Easy Tricks to Enhance Poetry
Are you interested in writing poetry? Do you worry that what you’re writing isn’t poetic enough? If so, all that you really need to do is to learn a few simple tricks that make your poems a little bit more interesting to readers. Here are a few of those tricks to get you started:
- Learn to rhyme. Most poetry gets perked up a bit with some simple rhymes so start playing around with rhyming words in your writing.
- Use alliteration. Any topic is more interesting to hear about when alliteration is involved. So when you write about your cousin Bob going to jail, don’t just say he “got out of jail” but say something about how he used bail bonds Boise or bail bonds Bakersfield to get out.
- Rely on description. The more descriptive that you can be, the better your poem will be. Describe Bob’s jail cell down to the specks of blood in the grout of the tiles there.
- Think about all five senses. When writing any descriptions in poetry, consider all five of your senses to get the description exactly right.
- Tell your truth. Don’t ever write what you think you should write; always write what you’re really feeling.
With these few tricks in mind, it should be possible to make your poetry better almost immediately.
