Health Care Elite
Everyone agrees that the United States health care system has serious problems. The heart of it all, I think, is that health care has become a very expensive and high tech field, and I think we can all be grateful for that. Modern pharmacists and doctors make our lives much longer and more comfortable than they would otherwise be. These days, however, doctors are under a lot of pressure from different groups.
Patients are dissatisfied with how expensive and impersonal care is. Medical school costs a fortune, government regulations, litigation, and high-pressure schedules make life stressful and tough. There’s a lot of motivation for a talented dentist to become a cosmetic dentist. Without the regulations, the free market determines the pay, which can be very high. They can stick to jobs that are easier, like dental whitening, or tackle the tougher ones. With higher paying but fewer patients, it’s easier to provide personal, comfortable dental care and have satisfied, happy patients.
Is it right that the best doctors and dentists are lured to the inessential fields to avoid the current health care system troubles? Probably not, but in a free market society, talent tends to find the best pay and most comfortable jobs, and these are certainly outside the mainstream health care system.
