How to Save Money When Building an Outdoor Kitchen
Building an outdoor kitchen is an ambitious project. It can end up costing you a lot of money if you’re not careful. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
Here are some basic tips for keeping costs down when building an outdoor kitchen:
- Make sure that you shop around. Different brands for each outdoor kitchen item can vary widely in price and between retailers so take the time to make sure you get the best price.
- Try to buy items in bulk. For example, if you’re buying a fire magic bbq island, see if you can get one that includes additional fire magic outdoor kitchen accessories such as timers and utensils.
- Try to go DIY with as much of the work as you can. Build your own outdoor kitchen cabinets instead of buying them, for example. This can significantly reduce costs of both products and labor.
- Don’t rush to get it all done today. If you get the basics of your outdoor kitchen complete, the rest can be bought piece-by-piece over time. This allows you to budget money and spend only when you have the extra cash.
An outdoor kitchen is a great addition to a home and a great home project for spring. Just make sure that you do what you can to keep costs down so that you stay glad that you embarked on this project!

When researching appliances for outdoor kitchens, I seem to be naturally drawn to the Cal Flame brand. I the past, I would randomly see appliances I liked and then discover that they were cal flame outdoor kitchens or cal flame bbq islands or something else by that brand.
I guess it’s likely that there are aesthetic reasons for choosing a particular brand name but does that mean that it’s the way to go with home design? Maybe, maybe not. I also take cost into consideration and I try to choose items that are green or sustainable so I can feel good about my home.
I definitely think some brands are better than others and I’d give that some weight when making my home design or outdoor kitchen decisions.
One of the things that I have spent a lot of time researching in the past year is home design. It’s a topic that really interests me. After all, your home is your sanctuary. If you can design it in a way that really makes you feel good then you will always feel safe and comfortable in your life no matter what extraneous circumstances are happening around you.
Something that I’m trying to decide as I continue to research home design is whether or not brand names matter when it comes to choosing furniture and appliances for accessorizing a home.
