Talking With a Doctor Friend
I was talking with a friend the other day who happens to be a doctor. He works in pediatrics and has a thriving practice. We happened to get into a conversation about disability insurance. I came to discover that he does not own occupational disability insurance or any type of disability insurance. I proceeded to share with him the reasons that he needs to consider picking up a policy.
Disability insurance, especially long term disability insurance, is a must regardless of your profession. If you are unable to work, how are you going to pay your bills? Those that have a family are in an even bigger bind. You do not want to put yourself into debt with credit cards, or risk losing your home or you way of life. That is why I told him that he should purchase a physician disability insurance policy right away.
There are many disability insurance companies out there that can give him a quote on a policy, and they can customize a policy to suit him. He told me that he would look into purchasing a policy right away. I’m glad we had that chat. I would have hated to see him get hurt and have to depend on social security disability.
