Utility Measurements
I was recently participating in a project in college that addressed the topic of utilities and how they are measured. For example, how does the gas, water, or the electric company know how much to charge you or if their system is accurate? I hadn’t realized that they have measurement tools that establish how effective the distribution of the energy is as well as how much.
After some evaluation, I began to see how much their whole industry relies on a simple flow measurement tools. It is tremendously important that precise and timely measurements are taken by the utility companies to help combat rising costs and wasted energy. As technology grows, these inline flow meters become more specific and target areas of environmental waste and helps society to know where to put their focus.
I may not have been aware of the use of these instruments previously, but I now have a great deal of appreciation for the use of a mass air flow sensor or mass air flow meters. I hope we begin seeing the use of more of these types of sensors in our everyday use so we can begin to conserve and re-evaluate the use of our energy.
