Hotel deals are the key to great business travel

Because of my close proximity to the Orange County Airport in Southern California, I am able to book pretty nice prices for flights both personal and professional. Recently I needed to be in the southern states, so I started researching the best deals on Atlanta Georgia hotels.

I was astounded by the number and quality of hotel deals I was able to find online. In years past, I would usually just call up the local travel agency and have them book for me. Given that times are different, I am relatively certain I get far better value for my dollar today than I did even 5 years ago.

Just as a test of this theory, I decided that when I found out I’d need to fly from Atlanta straight to San Diego, I would do some research on my own, as well as call the travel agent we use occasionally and see what sort of deal she could get me on San Diego, California hotels.

Not surprisingly, the pricing we both came up with was similar, though my finds were in the neighborhood of $15 to $20 cheaper across the board. Additionally, I know there is a service fee we would pay to them for “their time”. Maybe I can get the boss to put that amount into my per diem account?!

It’s always hard to book with a travel agent because they really have to add more to the price to earn. But back then, it was convenient to go to a travel agent because it was convenient.

It’s a good thing the Internet has evolved and we can search for better deals online.

    Great post!

Lol. Maybe you could add the service fee.

But yes, now, it’s really better to find good deals online than through travel agencies.

The internet has made searching for better deals even better. Good decision doing an online search instead of the travel agent.

I book all my hotel reservations online now. It’s quicker, faster and cheaper.

I book online now. And when I do it all the time, I even get discount coupons. I don’t normally get that through travel agents.

Whenever I book hotels online, I also read up on the reviews. User review are so much better because you get real reviews and not press releases.

Be sure to check out user reviews, too, when making your decision. Cheap hotels are cheap for a reason.
