Where Winter Really Is A Wonderland In Canada
If you love skiing or even just enjoy being outdoors in the snow, taking a winter break and heading off on one of the many Canada ski vacations is a great idea. There are literally ski resorts and ski areas in every province and territory in the country, however the ski capitals are Whistler in British Columbia, Banff and Jasper in the Rocky Mountains between Alberta and British Columbia, and the eastern ski areas by Montreal and Toronto in Quebec and Ontario respectively.
One of the most exciting things that I did during my Banff vacation package last winter was go heli-skiing. This is a real adventure as a helicopter flies you up to the top of the mountain and then you are able to ski down the slope, zigging and zagging through untouched, pristine, powder. Guides are available to take you down the mountain, but it is just such as phenomenal experience it is hard to describe. Also I decided to try some new outdoor activities and actually went out snowshoeing that I found out I was surprisingly good at! The whole family enjoyed the rustic yet completely modern hotels, restaurants and shopping areas found in Banff and Lake Louise. Vacation and skiing now just seems to go together and I can’t wait for next year when we will hit the slopes again.
